Job Description

The Accountant position assists with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, entering, verifying, and checking data, processing budget and other financial accounts. Responsibilities include: runs, imports, balances, and prepares for posting daily reports of incoming cash and credit card transactions; prepares and enters journal entries for incoming/outgoing wires; posts journal entries; prepares, mails, and records miscellaneous billing; maintains files and balances accounts receivable; serves as backup answering phones and inquiries; provides support to administrative staff; prepares and processes payroll checks; runs and posts payroll journals; reconciles payroll accounts; reconciles and send files to financial institutions; runs, updates, and monitors employee accrual reports; prepares and maintains various reports and spreadsheets including property tax; processes payments and journal entries; prepares payments for medical and dental insurance; reconciles employee records in the general ledger; serves as backup for Accounts Payable Technician; prepares notification letters for uncleared checks; enters department timesheets; assists with timesheet entry, payroll tax processing other accounting tasks as needed.

Hours: Monday – Friday; first shift.

To Compete in the Selection Process: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in accounting or related field with considerable experience in accounting. Must have a general knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting principles, rules, and regulations; accounting terminology, methods, procedures, and equipment; and the principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Must have experience with personal computers and the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; post accounts and perform mathematical computations; prepare and analyze data; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
