Job Description

$2000 Signing Bonus after 90 days of successful employment.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position involves a primary function of driving the varying company vehicles that require a CDL (Class A) license. Although the primary function is to move product between local facilities, this position also requires the involvement in daily Processing functions as directed by the Supervisor. The CDL Driver will be required to pass our internal forklift driver’s license program. This position demands physical work which will include operating a forklift to load and unload product as necessary. This CDL Driver position will work closely with the Processing Supervisors and Processing Manager to achieve our daily intra-company shuttle needs.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Follow safety instruction and plant rules and maintain good safety practices
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
• Collects delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes
• Maintains logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
• Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles immediately
• Secures cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers
• Inventories and inspects goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions
• Operates equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
• Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
• Checks conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage
• Reads bills of lading to determine assignment details
• Couples or uncouples trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting, or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks
• Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
• Cranks trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles

ADDITONAL DUTIES:
• Participate in the receiving, unloading, moving of various types of materials (inbound or outbound)
• Notify Supervisor of nonconforming goods
• Maintain warehouse arrangements and maximize space utilization to accommodate current stock.
• Maintain warehouse layout and locator systems; determine locations to be used for new items and relocation policies to be
followed.
• Prepare stock identification tags bearing coded information; place stock in proper storage locations; rotate stocks
• Assists in daily Processing tasks if instructed by the Supervisor and/or Manager

A successful candidate must have:
• Good verbal communication skills
• Able to work in a team atmosphere
• Forklift skills required (propane, sit-down lift experience preferred)
• High School or equivalent required
• Forklift experience
• 3 Years OTR Experience
• Valid CDL (Class A) license and medical card
• 3 Years’ experience with hauling 53’ dry van trailers
