Coordinator of Tutoring and Testing Services

Gardner-Webb University’s traditional undergraduate program seeks a candidate for the position of Coordinator of Tutoring and Testing Services.  Reporting to the Dean of Student Success, the qualified candidate will be responsible for managing tutoring and testing programs, including researching and identifying learning assistance practices and instructional resources available to assist students in reinforcing academic concepts.  This position works collaboratively with faculty to develop content-specific programming and support materials in addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the Tutoring and Testing Center.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies, recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all tutors and proctors
  • Creates and manages tutoring schedules to ensure staffing is appropriate to meet student needs
  • Organizes make-up testing protocols for traditional undergraduate faculty
  • Maintains security of tests and materials, ensuring secure storage and procedures
  • Provides assessment and statistical reports on tutoring and testing usage and outcomes
  • Conducts needs assessments with university academic units to determine testing needs for the university and surrounding communities
  • Serves as a certified proctor for testing products, included but not limited to, TEAS, MAT, and CLEP.
  • Maintains certification of the tutoring center and provides ongoing guidance and support to faculty and tutors to ensure quality tutoring sessions
  • Commits to being available on evenings and weekends when needed
  • Assists with other duties as directed by the Dean of Student Success

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or related field required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Tutoring and testing center experience at the college level preferred
  • Knowledge of Banner a plus
