Performs complex advanced technical work planning, organizing and directing the construction, maintenance and repair of electric distribution lines and related facilities. Responsibilities include: plans, organizes, and manages the installation, maintenance, and repair of power lines and related distribution system facilities; oversees new projects; analyzes distribution systems and determines future needs; organizes and directs system additions and upgrades; inspects electric system and makes recommendations for future needs; prepares maps for GIS department; analyzes, reviews, and approves plans, drawings, and contracts for future growth and maintenance to the electrical distribution system.; assists with the development of departmental policies; assists with customer complaints and takes remedial action; oversees and manages utility and tree maintenance contractors; determines materials and schedules jobs; specifies required materials, tools, safety equipment, construction equipment, and vehicles; oversees new employees in operations; evaluates work performance of employees; maintains safety, training, time, and work records.; oversees safety and training; ensures safety precautions for crews and the public are enforced; assists with the development and implementation of the budget; and monitors expenditures.
Hours: Monday – Friday; first shift. Work will be required to work outside of normal working hours in emergency situations. To Compete in the Selection Process: High school diploma with extensive experience in safety engineering, electrical construction pertaining to an electrical distribution system, electric substation and distribution maintenance including codes and clearances. Demonstrated leadership & communication skills. Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools used in the erection and maintenance of electric lines and the hazards encountered; ability to plan and supervise; train employees; operate personal computer; establish and maintain effective working relationship. Special requirement: Possession of an NC CDLs. Possession of CPR-First Aid, Journeyman certification, Altec Sentry Professional Trainer and Operator, OSHA Work Zone Safety, Trenching, and Competent Person certifications upon hire. Must complete Incident Command training and participate in Electricities safety committee. |
