Performs work assisting youth gymnastic activities in a recreation center. Other duties include: assisting in spotting participants on tumbling skills and apparatus according to student ability; ensuring participant safety; maintaining order; assisting in enforcement of posted rules and regulations; structuring time with each student to ensure equal opportunity for learning; leading warm-ups and conditioning exercises; teaching and demonstrating tumbling and apparatus skills for beginner-level students; and educating youth regarding proper use of facility and equipment.
Hours: Varied afternoon hours that work well with a high school or college student. To Compete in the Selection Process: General knowledge of the techniques and methods used in teaching gymnastics; working knowledge of and physical ability to lead warmup and conditioning exercises; general knowledge of first aid and safety precautions; ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined by superiors; ability to perform basic gymnastics skills; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with students; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. Special requirements: Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications upon hire. |
