Performs skilled work in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment. Responsible for repairing and maintaining housing units; inspecting property and facilities; performing carpentry, painting and masonry work; repairing leaking roofs; plastering walls; operating dump truck, tractor, mowers, backhoe and other equipment; assisting with repair of heating and air conditioning equipment; assisting with electrical repairs; patching holes in walls; repairing or replacing doors, cabinets, windows, and tile; painting, cleaning and preparing units for new tenants; cleaning appliances and bathrooms; repairing plumbing facilities; mowing grass, trimming hedges, keeping grounds free from debris and trash; reading meters; inspecting units for compliance with policies, rules, and regulations; repairing electrical outlets, switches, light fixtures, and fans; installing and repairing electrical and gas appliances; maintaining inventory of cleaning and responding to calls for service from tenants.
Hours: Monday – Friday; first shift. Will be required to work outside of normal working hours in stand-by, on-call or other emergency situations. To Compete in the Selection Process: High school diploma/GED with moderate experience in maintenance, repair, and/or construction activities. General knowledge of procedures for electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, installation, and maintenance; occupational and safety precautions; proper and safe use of equipment, machinery, tools, and chemicals; skill in performing maintenance, installation, and repair operations; skill in the use of personal computers; ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Valid NC driver’s license required. |
