SUMMARY OF POSITION
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing plant equipment maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, repairs including preventive maintenance and emergency calls, modification and upgrades to existing plant equipment. Maintenance is performed according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• This position requires one to perform general and preventive maintenance for pumps, valves, PLC Controls, automation components, while following plant rules and sound safety practices.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to production equipment during regular work schedule and be available during afterhours and or weekends to make recommendations/repairs.
• Diagnose problems, replace and or repair equipment as required to maintain production.
• Assist engineering staff with install, startup, and implementation of new equipment and equipment upgrades
A successful candidate must have:
• Ability to perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities
• Familiar with centrifugal pumps, air diaphragm pumps, and automated valves.
• Must be able to read and understand P&ID diagrams, machine drawings, and electrical diagrams as needed in addition to interpreting equipment manuals
• Forklift experience and training.
• Analyse, diagnose, and troubleshoot PLC issues.
• Experience with overhead cranes, air compressor, boilers, and their operation is a plus.
• Welding experience helpful
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Independent judgement and analytical skills
• Dependable/Timely with reliable transportation and driver’s license
• Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field. High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years’ experience – in an industrial plant setting.
