ABB is seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer for their plant located in Shelby, NC. The chosen candidate will work closely with management to achieve sustainable gains in safety, quality, cost, delivery and customer service. Experience and knowledge of welding will be a key competency.
Learn the plant processes as it relates to the Fabrication Department.
Create and maintain accurate work instructions, routings, and BOMs.
Identify, develop, justify, and implement safety and ergonomic improvement projects, quality improvement projects, process automation, and productivity improvements.
Manage all aspects of planning, sourcing, implementation and completion of capital projects.
Coordinate the tooling needs of the fabrication department.
Maintain accurate production part nests using Solid Works and Sigma Nest.
Work as fabrication liaison with design engineering and other ABB facilities.
Review and approve Engineering Change Orders.
Assist Maintenance in troubleshooting equipment.
Implement departmental improvements by using lean tools including Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kaizen, and Standard Work.
Assist in the maintenance an accurate plant layout in AutoCAD.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Master’s Degree in Engineering
*A Master’s Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience.
*A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical / Industrial/ Manufacturing Engineering
Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge cutting, burning, fabrication, welding, machining and assembly of Mechanical Power Transmission products. These processes utilize laser, oxy/fuel, and plasma to cut sheet and tube for the manufacturing department.
Track record of taking ownership of work and displaying strong customer focus.
Self-starter with the ability to establish, prioritize, and organize work tasks.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project management and communication skills.
Willingness/desire to learn and utilize lean manufacturing principles.
Computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD ,SolidWorks or other 3d CAD software.
Working knowledge of SAP and Industrial Robotics (ABB) programming.
Knowledge of Fabrication and Welding process.
Experience with fabrication fixturing and gage design.
