The Safety Manager is primarily responsible for leading and managing the overall Safety function for the plant and for ensuring compliance with applicable government regulations and company policies. In partnership with managers and employees, the Safety Manager is also responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and that people work safely.
High School Diploma or GED AND 9 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Associates’ degree AND 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Bachelors’ Degree AND 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
*A Master’s Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience.
*A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
Strong knowledge in OSHA including U.S. Federal and applicable State
Understanding of Workers’ Compensation and Return to Work Programs
Strong understanding of electrical safety including NEC, NFPA 70E and OSHA
Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal briefs, technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees comprised of various levels of personnel, from senior executives to facility personnel
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong leadership and influencing skills
Intermediate level of computer skills in SAP and MS Office software
