Job Description

Under the direction and technical supervision of the Manager of Product Management, the Senior Project Manager ensures the completion of assigned projects on time and within budget, with a high level of customer satisfaction, and in compliance with ABB’s QES management system and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Tasks:

Serve as the Company’s principal point of customer contact for the assigned projects. Recognize and communicate new potential business opportunities to the responsible account manager and assist him/her to take advantage of these opportunities.

Review assigned orders with Account Managers for clarification of all technical and commercial issues and develop a plan for contract satisfaction. The scope of work includes projects involving the following products:

Review and analyze applicable customer specifications for compliance.
Evaluate and review contract implications and risks, review the accuracy of cost estimates and possible cost impact for possible changes in applicable requirements.

Keep all the financial and schedule records in the SAP current at all times. Participate and report project status during monthly project reviews. Initiate actions to resolve complex problems.

Regularly review and maintain accurate cost estimates and project milestones in SAP.

Monitor order process through all phases from order clarification and entry through shipment, delivery, commissioning and start-up as per applicable scope.
Interface with customers to fully understand technical requirements, specifications and customer needs.

Interface with feeder factories, vendors and subcontractors to ensure the scheduled ordering, completion and arrival of parts, components, equipment, etc. that meet company quality and specification requirements.

Offer changes and additions to the contract as requested by the customer and work with the responsible account manager to negotiate change orders to the main contract.

Prioritize, schedule and monitor work assignments and ensure the completion of assigned projects on time and within budget, with a high level of customer satisfaction, and in compliance with ISO standards.

Initiate and lead agreed to regular internal and external technical and design reviews and ensure proper reporting in writing with clear action plans, action responsibilities and completion dates.

Take the lead on all customer witness testing at the factory.

Initiate, organize and lead regular internal and external project team meetings, which can be in the form of either face-to-face meetings or by either telephone or videoconference as required. Document and follow-up on minutes in writing with clear action plans, action responsibilities and completion dates.

Coordinate with other departments and ABB units to ensure the scheduled completion of all assigned tasks, products, etc. Schedule and lead status and project meetings, and report project status monthly.

Coordinate shipping with factory and freight forwarders, by ship and/or common carriers. Manage and if possible improve the profitability and cash flow of the project.

Lead or participate on cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, on going improvement of methods, processes, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.

Act as the technical expert for the product and project supplied, providing assistance to the sales organization and application engineers to address and resolve customer inquiries concerning system configuration hardware and software features, specifications and application issues.

Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED AND 12 years’ of manufacturing experience
OR
Associates degree AND 10 years’ of manufacturing experience
OR
Bachelors’ Degree AND 8 years’ of manufacturing experience

*A Master’s Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience.
*A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong analytical and written and verbal communication skills

Further strong technical skills to lead the implementation and execution of technically and commercially complex contracts and help guide and educate customers.

Ability to negotiate with, and influence customers, and coordinate activities involving multiple functions and parties.

The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the field sales force, customers, vendors and other employees of the company.
